Cypresses (Cupressus sempervirens) are the chief woodland trees of the White Mountains.
The highest cypresses at the tree-line are amongst the oldest and most distinctive trees in Europe. Some of the best examples are reasonably accessible high above Anopolis and it's easy to spend a day discovering some of the best examples of these old wizened individuals clinging to the mountain. You won't need to walk long distances but the terrain is rough and stony.
